Markandeya

Markandeya, born Marcus Berg, is a Swedish musician, singer, and producer based in a serene mountain village in Colombia. His rich, soulful vocals intertwine with deep bass lines to create an evocative soundscape that defines his signature heart-centered ethereal dub.

Rooted in over a decade of Vedic studies and Eastern philosophy, Marcus adopted the artist name "Markandeya," bestowed upon him by his teacher. He is the visionary behind Kultiration, an innovative eight-piece orchestra, and played a pivotal role in shaping the Nordic modern roots movement from 2004 onward. Kultiration’s fusion of traditional folk, reggae, and jazz garnered a devoted following, sharing stages with iconic artists such as Midnite, Groundation, and Michael Franti.

Beyond Kultiration, he is also a member of the duo Minuk and has graced festival stages across Latin America and Europe, bringing his unique artistry to audiences worldwide.

Throughout his career, Marcus has written and released over one hundred songs. He’s also been deepening his love for production, recording other artists, and releasing collaborations with producers Nicola Cruz, El Buho, etc.
